What is Zero Balancing?
Zero Balancing is a powerful body-mind therapy that focuses on tensions held in the bone (ZBers call this "bone gold"), as well as muscle and connective tissue. Client wears loose, comfortable clothing (no lotions used). Pressures feel like a cross between acupressure and massage.
Developed by a man who was both an osteopath and an acupuncturist, ZB focuses especially on bone tissue itself, and key joints of the skeleton, that together conduct and balance forces of gravity, posture and movement. Finger pressures and gentle tractions are used to ease areas of tension and blocked energy in the bones, joints, soft tissues and energy fields.
A Zero Balancing session leaves you with a wonderful feeling of inner harmony and organization, as well as helping to ease physical aches and pains.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a deeply relaxing and subtle form of bodywork that focuses on improving and balancing the flow of special fluid that bathes the brain and spinal cord. This is how the tissues of your nervous system are nourished, lubricated and cleansed! This cerebrospinal fluid circulates in a regular rhythm that moves like an ocean tide between the cranium (head) and the sacrum (base of spine).
The craniosacral rhythm affects the whole body. While the name "craniosacral" comes from the main structures that contain the cerebrospinal fluid, this type of bodywork is also working with the connective tissue (fascia) in order to affect the movements of fluids and joints, including the suture joints within the skull.
Client wears loose, comfortable clothing (no lotions used). Very light pressure, with each hold held several minutes to allow the connective tissues to unwind at its own pace.
Which type of bodywork should you try?
I encourage you to try each to experience for yourself! And you can also ask me at your appointment if I have a recommendation of which to start with, given your personal symptoms, experiences, etc.
They are quite different, and very complementary to each other.
